CSA Details | Learn to Eat Seasonally

Sign up for a weekly box of fresh vegetables and herbs grown on our farm in North Yarmouth, ME. We provide recipes and meal plans to help you in the kitchen, along with newsletters to keep you connected with the farm.

What Do I Get?

  • A weekly box of fresh organic vegetables and herbs to be picked up every Thursday between 4pm and 6pm at our farm in North Yarmouth.
  • A weekly newsletter filled with photos from the farm, recipes, inspiration, and cooking tips for all the produce.
  • The ability to implement one ‘skip week’ when you're out of town and receive a credit for extra vegetables when you're back.
  • The ability to trade ‘one’ vegetable per week. We want you to love every bite! That's why you can swap out one item each week for something that better suits your taste.
  • The opportunity to directly support local farmers. CSA stands for "Community-Supported Agriculture." It's a fantastic way to support a local farm, because it provides funds to the farmers at the beginning of the season and guarantees a home for the produce.

Your Weekly Share

The season offers 20 weeks of fresh, naturally-grown produce, starting in June and ending in October. Our target start week for the 2025 season is the week of June 19th, but weather conditions may affect this date.

Each week, you'll receive 7-10 seasonal vegetables and herbs – the best and freshest of what's available. It's a perfect fit for households of 2 to 4 people.

The share price is $34.75 per week for online payments or $33.75 per week for payments by check. This translates to $695 for the entire season when paid online and $675 for the entire season by check.

To sign up online, simply pay via our online store. To sign up and pay by check, simply email anna@bettertogetheracres.com with the subject line "2025 CSA Sign Up." We recommend mailing your check the day after sending your email to ensure prompt processing of your payment.

Add-Ons:

We also offer the opportunity to add:

  • A weekly loaf of fresh sourdough bread made with organic flour by our friends at Daily Loaf in Bridgton, Maine.
  • A weekly share of a mix of mushrooms grown by our friends at Timberwoods Farm in Paris, Maine.

What's a "CSA"?

CSA stands for "Community-Supported Agriculture." It's a partnership between a farm and its community. CSA members pay a subscription fee at the beginning of the growing season, which the farm then uses to buy seeds and supplies. In return, the farm harvests “the cream of the crop” for members which can be picked up at our farm. The CSA model creates a direct connection between farmers and eaters.

Are your vegetables organic?

Yes, except in one important sense: we're not certified organic by the USDA. In the future, we would consider becoming certified, but for now, the paperwork and costs don't make sense. We rigorously follow organic practices on the farm: we use no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, we use no GMOs, we plant habitat for pollinators, and we use lots of compost to nourish the soil. You're welcome to visit the farm to see for yourself!

What if I need more vegetables and herbs than my share provides?

No problem at all! Our convenient farm store is always open during business hours, and we invite you to purchase additional vegetables, herbs, and other farm products as needed to supplement your weekly share. We always offer a wide selection of fresh produce and other goodies, so you can easily expand your meals and enjoy even more of the farm's bounty.

What if I don't know how to cook a certain vegetable?

Each week, you'll receive a newsletter with a list of what's in the box, along with recipes, meal ideas, and cooking inspiration to help you in the kitchen.

What if I don't like one of the vegetables?

No problem! While we encourage you to try vegetables and herbs that are a little less known or a little less common, and we always support you with recipes, we understand that there might be an herb or a vegetable that you absolutely don't want to eat. If that is the case, simply identify that particular vegetable when you pick up your share. You can then choose a replacement vegetable from our farm store. We ask that you complete the exchange on the day of pick-up.

Can I pay in installments?

Yes. It helps the farm if you pay in full at sign-up, but it's fine to pay in monthly installments, too. Just email us at anna@bettertogetheracres.com and we can work something out.

Do you offer a smaller share?

At this time, no. But if you know someone else who's interested in a box, we do have several members who split their box with a friend or coworker, or who alternate weeks.

What if I go out of town and have to miss a box?

This year we are offering one "skip week" per season. If you need to miss a week, please notify us by the preceding Sunday. We will then issue you a farm store credit of $34 to use towards any farm products (excluding our pasture-raised chicken). This option is available for one week only.

If you need to miss more than one week, we encourage you to offer your share to friends or family for that week. Please be sure to email or text us ahead of time at anna@bettertogetheracres.com or 207-766-1557 so we know who to expect at pick-up.

I'm worried the CSA isn't right for me.

It might not be! A CSA is about more than just getting vegetables; it's about becoming part of our farm community and immersing yourself in the experience of eating locally and seasonally. This means embracing the rhythm of New England agriculture, which includes trying new varieties of crops you may not be familiar with. We'll always provide you with recipes and cooking inspiration to help you enjoy everything in your share.

Our CSA is a great fit for those who:

  • Want to eat well and make fresh, locally-grown vegetables a regular part of their diet.
  • Value being connected to a farm and supporting local farmers in their community.
  • Are excited to try new vegetables and expand their culinary horizons.
  • Appreciate receiving a diverse selection of 7-10 different vegetables and herbs each week, reflecting the best of what's currently being harvested on the farm.

If this description resonates with you, we’d love to have you as part of our CSA!

While our CSA offers a wonderful way to connect with our farm and enjoy the bounty of the season, it may not be the perfect fit for everyone. If you're looking for a more flexible option where you can choose exactly what you want to buy and the quantities, your local farmers' market might be an appropriate alternative.
