Better Together Acres CSA Policies: The Member/Farmer Agreement
CSA POLICIES: THE MEMBER/FARMER AGREEMENT
The Nature of CSA Membership
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a relationship between farmers and eaters. It's a step beyond just buying vegetables. When you sign up for the Better Together Acres CSA, you're paying in advance for your share of the farm's harvest. You're also taking on part of the risk of planting, growing, and tending to crops. Farming is unpredictable. We can't guarantee there won't be variations in the quality and quantity of the produce we're able to harvest, depending on circumstances that are beyond our control.
Our Commitment to You
In return for your support, we're excited to grow the very best vegetables we can for you. Each week, we'll share recipes, ideas, and inspiration to help you in the kitchen. We consider the CSA to be much more than a way to sell vegetables. CSA members are an extended part of the farm. If you're a new member, we hope to meet you, get to know you, and have you out to the farm. You're the fuel that keeps this farm running.
Season Length and Pricing
The season is 20 weeks of fresh, naturally-grown produce, starting in June and ending in October. Our target start week in 2025 is the week of June 19, but it depends on the weather. The share price is $34.75 per week if you pay online or a discounted rate of $33.75 per week if you pay via check. This equates to $695 via online and $675 via check for the entire season.
What's Included in Your Share
We plant over 40 types of vegetables and herbs each year for CSA members. Each week's CSA box will typically contain 7-10 items, enough to feed 2-4 people, depending on how serious they are about vegetables. You also have the ability to purchase extra vegetables and other goods each week from our farm store, depending on what's available from the farm.
Pickup Responsibilities
You're responsible for picking up your share every week, or designating someone else to pick up your share for you. (In that case, please make sure they know the pickup location hours, and also know to bring a bag to pack up their vegetables.)
Missed Pick-Ups
If you are unable to pick up or are running late, please contact us via text message right away. If you miss a pick-up (without letting us know), then the box is forfeited and we will donate or share your box. (If you're going to be just a little late to pick up your box, you can text us.)
Skip Week Policy
Members are entitled to one "skip week" per season, provided notification is received by the preceding Sunday. A farm store credit of $34 (excluding pasture-raised chicken) will be issued for the missed week. This option is limited to one instance per season.
Item Exchange Option
Members may exchange one item (vegetable or herb) per week for another available at the farm store, with exchanges occurring during the scheduled pick-up time for that week only.
Cancellations and Refunds
If you need to cancel your CSA for any reason, email us at info@bettertogetheracres.com. If you cancel your subscription after the first box, then we will issue a refund on a pro-rated basis.
