About Us

Our Journey


It was a handful of seeds that we put into the ground roughly 5 years ago. We read
no directions, added no compost. We just dropped them into the soil and watched
it all grow. To this day we are still in awe of the miracle that unfolds when a
seed turns into a plant. But not just any plant – a plant that bears nutritious
food, meant for us to consume.

As these seeds grew and turned into food – we quite literally became hungry.
Hungry for more. We wanted to know where our food comes from, that it was grown
in a sustainable way with soil health and nutrition in mind. We craved
transparency that we struggled to find.

The solution – we grow it ourselves!

Meet the farmers

Mike

Mike was born and raised in Portland and comes from a childhood pretty far removed from agriculture. His journey led him from fast to slow food, inspired in part by a family health illness. You can find him out standing in the field, lifting heavy things of all kinds, doing pig races, flipping garden beds, or talking to our sheep.

Anna

Anna was born and raised in a small community in Northern Germany. While she was surrounded by agriculture all her life, she put little thought into it until she moved away from it and started to crave all the flavorful food. Anna is the bird lady, medicine woman to all creatures on the farm as well as head chef at the Kress residence.
